Nick Thayer

Nick Thayer is the Director of Legal Innovation and a law clerk at Lex Tecnica, where he leads the firm's AI and legal technology strategy while providing substantive legal support across corporate, technology, finance, and litigation matters. He assists attorneys in deal structuring, negotiation strategy, and client advisement across the firm's full range of practice areas, including matters involving federal Indian law, tribal sovereignty, and economic development.

During law school, Nick managed residential finance operations for Zions Bancorporation, overseeing training, credit risk, loan structuring, and more for a team of 250+ staff — experience that directly informs his transactional and regulatory work today.

He completed a Legal & Public Policy Fellowship at LinkedIn, serves as a research assistant on AI governance at UNLV's Boyd School of Law, and was selected by Anthropic as a Claude AI Ambassador. Nick regularly presents and teaches CLEs for the Nevada State Bar on AI and emerging technology, and was formerly a court-appointed mediator in Nevada's Eighth Judicial District Court.

He has taught over 550 community members on family law through the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, and mentored at-risk youth through Las Vegas's Youth Offender Court. A published author and speaker on applied AI in legal  and business practice, Nick brings an uncommon combination of legal training, technology fluency, and hands-on business experience to every matter.
