
Nick Thayer

Nick Thayer is a law clerk at Lex Tecnica and a dual JD/MBA candidate at UNLV's William S. Boyd School of Law and Lee Business School (expected 2026). His practice focuses on general business, corporate and transactional matters, AI governance, legal technology, and privacy.
Nick also operates a technology and business strategy consulting practice, helping organizations navigate emerging technology and AI through practical guidance on tool selection, policy development, and risk management.
He serves as an AI researcher at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and as student representative for the Nevada State Bar's Science & Technology Section, where he regularly presents to attorneys on technology and governance issues.
Before and during law school, Nick worked in banking and real estate finance, where he originated and managed multi-million-dollar loan pipelines and led compliance reviews, processing, and underwriting operations nationwide.
Nick has served as a court-appointed mediator in Nevada's Eighth Judicial District Court and volunteered with Las Vegas's Youth Offender Court, teaching personal finance and life skills to at-risk teens. He also recently completed a Legal & Public Policy Fellowship at LinkedIn and currently serves as President of the Generative AI & Legal Technology Club at Boyd School of Law.
Outside the law, Nick is an avid soccer fan and two-time state champion. His background also includes work in hospitality, entertainment production, fine jewelry, and the culinary arts.
