Lori Bitar

Lori Bitar is a Teacher of the Year, award-winning charter school founder, and Disney American Teacher nominee who has spent over 25 years supporting students and families across schools, homes, and individualized learning environments. She is also the author of SOS! Save Our Students: Solutions for Schools, Staff, Students, Stakeholders & Society, a compilation of real stories and a practical resource manual designed to equip “SuperHero Adults” and their “Student Sidekicks” as they navigate and overcome the real challenges facing education today.

Lori currently serves as a Special Education Advocate and Private Educator with IEP Defenders, where she combines advocacy with hands-on academic support. Her work focuses on helping families understand and apply psychoeducational assessments so that IEPs and 504 plans are not just compliant, but truly aligned to each student’s needs.

She brings deep expertise in academic intervention, executive function, literacy, and mentoring, with a strong emphasis on what happens in real life: homework, routines, organization, and follow-through. Lori is known for helping families move from confusion to clarity, and for building systems that support student independence, confidence, and long-term success.

Her approach reflects the core message of her book: when the right adults are equipped with the right tools, students can succeed- even in systems that don’t always make it easy.
